Born approx 1840/1841.

Eldest daughter of Rev. Robert Hartley who came to Rockhampton with her parents. Her father Robert was a Methodist Minister and came to Rockhampton to take over from Rev William Colley who William Allen (a Primitive Methodist layman) had asked to come to Rockhampton to found a congregation. Rev Colley stayed only 8 months, and in October 1964 Rev Robert Hartley took over and stayed there until his death. Anna met William Allen and married him that same year.

William and Christiana's suburban villa 'Crescent Lodge' was described as beautifully situated on the Racecourse Road facing Crescent Lagoon and the western side of the Athelstane Range. It was a solid house of seven main rooms and a detached kitchen, servant's quarters, gardener's cottage, coach house, stables, forage room and fowl house. The garden covered four acres and included 1,000 banana trees. There was also a 10 acre paddock with grass and permanent water. It was one of the most complete villa's in Rockhampton at the time.

Christiana died at her parent's home in Bolsover Street, Rockhampton, Qld in May 1874, aged 33 years.

Gravestone reads:

In Affectionate remembrance of Ann Christiana beloved wife of William Allen and oldest daughter of the REv Robert Hartley who departed this life in Rockhampton on May 2 1874, aged 33 years

There are no births for the couple who married in 1864.

Rev Robert Hartley and family came to Australia on board the ship "Echo". It departed from London and arrived in Sydney on 22 June 1860. The family members that came with him were: Mrs Jane Hartley, Miss AC Hartley, Master WJ Hartley, Master RT Hartley, Master SW Hartley and Miss Jane E Hartley.
